And here I thought that the whole movie was Starbucks product placement ;o)
From what I recall, he did not kill the seagull, he found it dead in the septic tank and then smashed it to feathers. The seagull stuff seams reminiscent of “The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner” which featured an Albatross but the symbolism was similar.
