Conspiracy Theory- Afghanistan’s Lithium Takeover

This is actually an older story that I believe needs more light shed on it.

In 2010, we “discovered” that Afghanistan had a reserve of mineral resources and deposits in value of over 1 trillion dollars. Lithium is what all of the iPod, iPhone, cameras, etc. devices use for batteries, so you could imagine how important it currently is.

Afghanistan, far beyond any previously known reserves and enough to fundamentally alter the Afghan economy and perhaps the Afghan war itself, according to senior American government officials.

The previously unknown deposits — including huge veins of iron, copper, cobalt, gold and critical industrial metals like lithium — are so big and include so many minerals that are essential to modern industry that Afghanistan could eventually be transformed into one of the most important mining centers in the world, the United States officials believe.

While it could take many years to develop a mining industry, the potential is so great that officials and executives in the industry believe it could attract heavy investment even before mines are profitable, providing the possibility of jobs that could distract from generations of war.

The Pentagon task force has already started trying to help the Afghans set up a system to deal with mineral development. International accounting firms that have expertise in mining contracts have been hired to consult with the Afghan Ministry of Mines, and technical data is being prepared to turn over to multinational mining companies and other potential foreign investors. The Pentagon is helping Afghan officials arrange to start seeking bids on mineral rights by next fall, officials said.

As the excerpt from the article spells out, the U.S. believes that Afghanistan could be one of the most important mining centers in the world. You know that capitalism can’t just let something like that go, so surely we’ve got some corporate interests that are trying to setup businesses in mining over there. There must be so much interest in getting the Afghan government under control that we can’t simply leave until it happens.

Think about it; corporations funnel tons of money to political candidates through PACs, and then the candidate must repay the debt somehow. The candidate must support the corporation’s wishes, and this time it would be the Afghanistan mining operations.

So fast forward to 2012, now we’re worried about a potential civil war breaking out over these mining resources.

It is estimated that Afghanistan contains reserves of natural resources, such as oil, gold, iron ore, copper, lithium, etc., which could be worth trillions of dollars, and offers hope for the future to many of the country’s poor villages which are situated near the resource deposits. The problem is that officials and industry experts are worried that the potential wealth to be made from the resources, has increased the level of corruption, violence, and intrigue in the country.

With the impending departure of NATO forces in 2014, security in Afghanistan is a major concern, and it is now feared that its mineral wealth could trigger a civil war. Powerful regional warlords are already trying to aggressively expand their territories to include areas with mineral wealth, and the Taliban has started making murderous attacks in areas where resource development is planned.

Western officials suspect the motives behind the rejection of a proposed mining law which was intended to attract foreign investment. The reason given was that it was too generous to Western interests, but some believe that the real reason was to keep foreign companies out.

My concern is that NATO would use troops’ lives to defend the mining operations that the Illuminati corporations will reap all of the benefits from. More class warfare; send over the low and middle income kids to die for the rights of the upper class to take advantage of workers and make disgusting amounts of profit over.

    • The lithium is going to be used, either way. It’s a question of who profits. You cannot point the finger at technology as the culprit. The corporate elite wage war on the lower class, without a doubt, but in any way they can. It won’t stop just because you choose not to buy an ipod. They will just go after the things you do buy, such as groceries (by the way they already have). The demand exists for these precious metals in industrial and research capacities already, and the technology sector is actually building the infrastructure to provide a pathway for greater usage by all. It is a system with no real rules, governed only by the laws of nature. It’s too easy to say, “That’s evil,” or “Shame on you,” while ignoring the laws of nature. I think one law to consider is absolute power corrupts absolutely. Another is survival of the fittest. Another is adaptation to the environment through natural selection. The state of humanity can only be considered the result of ancient process that has evolved up to the present. A key part of that is awareness, which drives change. Your awareness of the ‘evil’ component can drive change in you and others, but the only way you’re going to change what they are doing is to take control of how technology is used, not fight against its existence.
