I’m probably way late on reporting this but it’s news to me. Zombie’s newest project ‘The Lords of Salem’ is officially releasing on April 19th, 2013. It will be screened for the first time at the SXSW festival in Austin, TX on March 8th.
Here’s the synopsis from Zombie’s website; the movie looks way cooler than it sounds:
“The Lords of Salem” tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a “gift from the Lords.” Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the “Lords of Salem” returning for revenge on modern-day Salem?
Zombie also has another album coming out at the same time as the film called ‘Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor':
The eagerly awaited new ROB ZOMBIE album ‘Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor’ is OUT APRIL 23 ON ZODIAC SWAN/T-BOY/UMe
“I think for the first time this new album perfectly merges the old days of White Zombie with the future of what I am doing now. I think fans of both will agree that this is the perfect combo of both worlds”
A rock icon and auteur filmmaker with insight and unlimited vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. Now, the seven-time Grammy®-nominated recording artist releases his fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, which streets April 23, and includes the first single, “Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town,” along with such tracks as “Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga,” “Lucifer Rising,” “Behold! The Pretty Filthy Creatures” and a heavy-duty cover of Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re an American Band.”
There’s a new (second) trailer released also:
Link to buy/pre-order the book ‘Lords of Salem’ by Zombie (releases March 12th):
“The book offers a different experience from the film since it can obviously go into much more detail,” says Rob Zombie. “The book and the film really complement each other.”
From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood…
THE LORDS OF SALEM
Heidi Hawthorne is a thirty-seven-year-old FM radio DJ and a recovering drug addict. Struggling with her newfound sobriety and creeping depression, Heidi suddenly receives an anonymous gift at the station-a mysteriously shaped wooden box branded with a strange symbol. Inside the box is a promotional record for a band that identifies themselves only as The Lords. There is no other information.
She decides to play it on the radio show as a joke, and the moment she does, horrible things begin to happen. The strange music awakens something evil in the town. Soon enough, terrifying murders begin to happen all around Heidi. Who are The Lords? What do they want?
As old bloodlines are awakened and the bodies start to pile up, only one thing seems certain: all hell is about to break loose.
