Doug Stanhope’s ‘Beer Hall Putsch’ comedy special and gay marriage speech

Stanhope just recorded a new standup comedy special called Beer Hall Putsch in Portland, Oregon on April 4th . LaughSpin posted more on it:

"New Wave Entertainment will record international comedy sensation Doug Stanhope’s new hour-long stand-up special at Portland venue Dante’s on Thursday, April 4th…The special will be recorded in the intimate setting of Portland, Oregon’s legendary club Dante’s. Why Dante’s in Portland? “Dante’s is where it all started for me in terms of booking my own gigs outside of comedy clubs,” says Stanhope.

It will be recorded for broadcast as well as to be released on CD and DVD shortly thereafter. Concerning the title, Stanhope says, “I’m calling it Beer Hall Putsch because I’m sponsored by Google."

I don’t know if he was serious about it being sponsored by Google or not, I’m thinking it was a joke because he expects everyone to Google search for "Beer Hall Putsch" like I had to (it was Hitler’s failed attempt of a revolution in the early ’20s before he took power). Lord knows where Stanhope is going to take this thing with a name like that, so I’d recommend anyone who’s easily offended to not bother with his comedy.

Also, Stanhope made the news in Arizona for speaking a gay rights debate over marriage:

On April 2, 2013 the Bisbee Arizona City Council held a vote to approve Civil Unions for gay couples. The meeting opened with an invocation by a local Pastor, Warren Griffen. Shortly thereafter, Doug Stanhope got up to speak.

The measure passed in a 5-2 vote approving civil unions in Bisbee.

Doug’s at 2:57, he’s goes in on the pastor who opened up the deal:
